Living in University City

University City is often called the “Golden Triangle”, alluding to its triangular shape and its significant contribution to the city’s economy. In addition to UCSD, the neighborhood also hosts a number of institutions and businesses in various industries, including research, real estate, technology, finance, and consulting. The village is divided into north and south areas by Rose Canyon. Many of the commercial and retail districts can be found north of the community, where the predominant housing types are condos, townhomes, and apartments. The southern part of University City is a mostly residential area dominated by single-family homes, but it also has a commercial zone with offices and business parks. Located just east of La Jolla and less than 20 minutes to the downtown area, University City gives residents easy access to the beaches, parks, and top attractions in the metro. But the neighborhood is also a San Diego destination, with a plethora of shops, restaurants, bars, fitness centers, and cultural attractions. Open spaces and nature preserves are also abundant. The sage scrub and chaparral covered Rose Canyon Open Space Park is perfect for hiking and bird and wildlife watching. But it’s not the only canyon in the area – there are also San Clemente Canyon and Finger Canyons, where you can enjoy spectacular vistas, woodland, and miles of hiking and biking trails.
