Poway is located just under 30 minutes from Downtown San Diego and the nearest beach towns. I-67 runs through the eastern portion of the community, providing easy access to the rest of the county, as well as to Los Angeles, Riverside and Orange County towns, and even to Mexico. The city is served by the Poway Unified School District, the third largest school district in San Diego County. Rated by Niche.com as the 24th Best School District in California, the school district includes several top-rated schools including Park Village Elementary School, Rolling Hills Elementary School, Oak Valley Middle School, and Westview High School. Poway offers excellent job opportunities within its borders. The 700-acre Poway Business Park hosts more than 500 businesses, including the headquarters and offices of several top corporations in the country. With a strong focus on family and community ties, the city regularly stages events that bring residents together, including a weekly Farmers Market, The Spring Family Festival, street fairs, and Halloween and Christmas festivities. Outdoor recreation is an important part of the Poway way of life. Residents of all ages can have their pick of outdoor fun and adventure at the many parks, trails, and nature preserves in the city, such as Blue Sky Ecological Reserve, the Community Park, and Lake Poway. The city’s most famous landmark is Potato Chip Rock, a unique rock formation resembling a potato chip, which can be reached by hiking Mt. Woodson Trail.
