The most visited destination in the area is the Cabrillo National Monument, which is also home to the historic Point Loma Lighthouse. Unlike other San Diego waterfront communities, Point Loma has little to offer by way of wide sandy beaches. Instead, visitors come for the Point Loma Tide Pools, which reveal a rich assortment of marine life at low tide.  There are plenty of excellent fishing spots at Point Loma Marina and Liberty Station, as well as waterfront dining and shopping options.  Residents looking for a day out at the beach can easily cross over to neighboring Ocean Beach, where surfing, swimming, and picnicking are popular activities. There’s a host of nearby restaurants, bars, and shops near the beaches, making for the perfect day-to-night outing with friends and family.
