Escondido

One of the oldest cities of San Diego County, Escondido boasts a great location just 35 minutes from Downtown San Diego and less than 25 minutes to Carlsbad. Situated in a valley surrounded by rocky hills, the city offers a wealth of outdoor activities, as well as an abundance of historical, cultural, and contemporary attractions.

There is so much to see and do in Escondido for residents of all ages. Kids will love San Diego Zoo Safari Park, San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum, Queen Califia’s Magical Circle, and EcoVivarium Living Museum.  For art and culture lovers, Escondido is a haven. The California Center for the Arts, Escondido features live performances, community productions, comedy shows, and other events throughout the year. There are also seven other live event venues and theaters in the city that stage various performances, including plays, musicals, concerts, and more. Every month, the community stages 2nd Saturday Arts & Culture Experiences, where visitors can attend exhibits or participate in a variety of activities in several art galleries and museums. If you want to learn a new craft or take dancing lessons, you’ll find workshops and classes offered by California Center for the Arts, Escondido, Escondido Public Library, ArtHatch of Escondido, and other venues.  Escondido celebrates its rich heritage and history through various festivities throughout the year, including the Escondido Grape Day Festival, the Escondido Tamale Festival, and the reenactment of the 1846 San Pasqual Battle at San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park. Historic Downtown Escondido features a treasure trove of historic homes built from the 1880s to the Post World War II era.  Any time of the year, you can enjoy excellent wine, craft beers, and delicious food at the many restaurants, wineries, and breweries throughout the city.  If outdoor adventures or fitness activities are your thing, you’ll find them in the city’s numerous parks and recreation centers, including Daley Ranch, Felicity County Park, Grape Day Park, Escondido Sports Center, and many more.
